Mismatched Serial Number Errors

The serial numbers of a banknote are applied by a series of mechanical wheels. Sometimes these wheels get stuck, or jammed, or they can be out of sync with each other.

When the two sets of wheels get out of sync with each other, errors such as these are produced. There can potentially be hundreds of such notes all in sequential order if it is not caught right away.

Errors such as these can affect any denomination, any series, and any digit or number of digits of the serial numbers.
